The Snowflakes

The grey clouds gathered silently

The night grew deathly still

As nature stood attentively

To a long expectant thrill

Then suddenly majestically

All at once they filled the sky

There a million prancing snowflakes

Seemed to jump and danced for joy.

The snowflakes rolled so flippantly

In the stillness of the night

As if though they had a job to do

Before the morning light

They skipped around this way and that

In a sprightly merry way

To sit and watch them one might think

They really were at play
